Erow Culture

Unlike many other elves who are known for their affinity for nature, erow are more interested in pleasure and happiness. Most of their society is based around means of making oneself or others happy. Though they tend to be some of the most passionate lovers, their culture makes a prominent distinction between love and sex, believing that happiness is related but not dependent on them. Thousands of years of hedonism have led to a highly sophisticated and refined sense of joy and pleasure that other races faun over, but usually misinterpret as a widespread nymphomania. That being said, erow generally aren't foolish about debauchery and are generally considered akin to gourmets when it comes to entertainment and pleasure. If someone is bad at singing, an erow will usually be the first to complain, is someone is bad at sex an erow will definitely be able to tell. They are good at pleasure, and they know it.

The Erow tend to be polygamous, generally forming a family around one wife or one husband but with no real trend towards a particular gender. Sometimes you have a house with a patriarch and multiple wives, other times you have a house with a matriarch and multiple husbands. Sometimes there is a single matriarch or patriach and a mixed selection of husbands and wives. It varies entirely from house to house. If asked, they tend to claim that the reason for their polygamous habits is to ensure that an heir is born, but this is generally considered an excuse. At the same time, not all Erow are polygamous, it is merely a trend that describes about 55% of their population. Most of the time, when they are monogomous, it is not a deliberate choice but is instead because they cannot afford multiple marriages.

Because the Erow are immune to diesase, any STDs or other maladies that might be incubated or carried by them are likely to die off unless they are provided with an environment wherein they can reproduce. Erow can carry and transmit diseases but are immune to any and all disease themselves. This combined with a fear that Erow are dirty and that you'll get sick if you have sex with them has led to Erow society to prioritize hygiene. Because no one would want to be the patron of a brothel if they think the people running it are riddled with diseases that you can't even tell are there. In any case, if you're going to have sex with an Erow you need to be careful because you don't know if they are carrying something or not since the symptoms won't be displayed due to their immunity. That being said, the Erow are a very tidy and clean race and the odds of catching something from them are very low, lower than most other races even.
